New Web Site Teaches PMs to Harness Social Media

Center Social, a new Web site sponsored by market and consumer research company Alexander Babbage with help from Madison Marquette, an investor and operator of retail real estate, aims to help shopping center property managers use social media to increase consumer spending. A study by Alexander Babbage on the use of social media in the shopping center industry prompted the company to create Center Social to provide reports, case studies, presentations, and best practices for property managers to follow when implementing social media strategies, such as using Facebook or Twitter to publicize their properties.

The study showed that centers that use social media outlets attract significantly more visitors than similar centers that don’t. Alexander Babbage says that the results of the study inspired it to work with Madison Marquette to create a resource for shopping center managers to use at a time when economic realities are challenging their sites.
